Giving
Your gifts to St Matthew Lutheran Church support the many ministries of our church including but not limited to: learning opportunities such as Bible studies, Sunday School and Confirmation, local and global missions, caring for our sick or homebound members, and spreading the word.
Starting August 1 we are implementing an additional way of giving for our members: automated giving. With automated giving, you will be able to provide consistent support for the missions of St. Matthew and make giving much simpler. After signing up, your offering will be collected on a consistent basis automatically. How much and how often you give is up to you. You may begin this giving anytime after August 1.
This new giving program is through Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) and is entitled Joyful Response. There will be a link on our Webpage to the form that needs to be filled out. The form will also be included in the August Newsletter and will be available from the church office.
Here are the steps to begin automated giving:
We will have “Joyful Response” cards available for those that don’t feel comfortable NOT putting your offerings in the offering plate. Another option would be to put your normal offering envelope in the offering plate and indicate “Online” somewhere on the envelope.
We are also looking into a phone app called Giving Plus to possibly implement later in the year or next year. This app does have a small fee that is charged to the church per transaction.
Thank you for considering this new option.
If questions, contact Sue Golish or Sue Kurth.
How can I give?
Automated Giving: Described above
Offering Envelopes: Offered to all members. If you are not receiving envelopes and would like to, please contact the church office at 507-932-4246 or by email at stm55972@gmail.com.

Here are the steps to begin automated giving:
- Obtain and fill out the Joyful Response Electronic Offering form. Be sure to fill out the entire form, sign, and attach a copy of a voided check or a deposit slip. In the “My Offering” section, General Fund and Building are the designations but there are lines to add other options that you would like your giving to go to such as Missions. Just remember, whatever your designations are to, they will be taken out each time you designate under “Transfer Date.”
- Bring the form to the church office, email the form to Stm55972.treasurer@gmail.com, or send in the mail to the church.
- The church treasurer, Sue Golish, will enter the information you provide into the program (Vanco) to begin your automated giving on the date you indicate on the form.
- Reports will be generated from Vanco as we need them so we can record your givings for tax purposes as we do with envelope givings. These givings will be included in the weekly giving totals that are recorded in the bulletin each week.
- This electronic giving is a free service through LCEF.
- If you want to modify or stop this giving, a new form will need to be submitted to the church with the dates to begin the change/end the giving indicated. This modification needs a 30 day notice.
